How to Use an Elevator: step-by-step guide

Elevators work the same way in every building. Watch the video, then read the steps.

  1. Walk to the elevator and press the up or down arrow button.

  2. Stand to the side of the doors and wait for the ding.

  3. Let people step out first, then step in.

  4. Press the number for the floor you want. The button lights up.

  5. Stand near the wall and hold a rail if there is one.

  6. Watch the number above the door as it changes.

  7. Step out when the doors open on your floor.

See it first. Go with confidence.

Hi, I'm Iris! Tell me what you're looking for: a place to preview (like "Park Library" or "a dentist office"), a specific city (like "Lansing, MI" or "Petoskey, MI"), or a how-to video (like "tying shoes" or "self-checkout"), and I'll find it for you.

Or browse all tours or the video library.
