Going to the Library-How to Check Out a Movie

Find a DVD at the library and check it out, including how movie due dates differ from books.

Going to the Library-How to Check Out a Movie: step-by-step guide

Movies check out much like books, with a shorter due date. Watch the video, then follow the steps.

  1. Look through the movie shelves or search the library catalog for the title you want.

  2. Take the case to the desk or the self-checkout machine.

  3. Scan or hand over your library card.

  4. Scan the movie case. A librarian may need to put the disc inside the case for you.

  5. Check the due date on the receipt. Movies are often due sooner than books.

  6. Return the movie in the drop box or at the desk by the due date.

See it first. Go with confidence.

Hi, I'm Iris! Tell me what you're looking for: a place to preview (like "Park Library" or "a dentist office"), a specific city (like "Lansing, MI" or "Petoskey, MI"), or a how-to video (like "tying shoes" or "self-checkout"), and I'll find it for you.

Or browse all tours or the video library.
