Checking out a book takes only a few steps once you have a library card. Watch the video, then follow along.

  1. Look for your book on the shelves or ask a librarian to help you find it.

  2. Pull the book off the shelf and carry it to the checkout desk.

  3. Set the book on the counter and hand the librarian your library card.

  4. The librarian scans your card and the book, then hands both back to you.

  5. Listen for the due date, or check the printed receipt.

  6. Put the book in your bag and return it by the due date.

Hi, I'm Iris! Tell me what you're looking for: a place to preview (like "Park Library" or "a dentist office"), a specific city (like "Lansing, MI" or "Petoskey, MI"), or a how-to video (like "tying shoes" or "self-checkout"), and I'll find it for you.
