How to Shoot a Basketball: step-by-step guide
A good shot is the same motion every time. Watch the video, then practice close to the hoop.
Stand facing the hoop with your feet about shoulder width apart.
Hold the ball with your shooting hand under it and your other hand on the side.
Bend your knees a little and look at the small square on the backboard.
Push up with your legs as you lift the ball above your head.
Straighten your shooting arm and flick your wrist so the ball spins backward.
Let your hand finish pointing at the hoop.
Start close to the basket and step back only after several shots go in.
