The Port of Ludington Maritime Museum at 217 S Lakeshore Dr is a nonprofit museum celebrating the rich maritime heritage of Ludington and Mason County — a community whose identity has been shaped by Lake Michigan ferry crossings, commercial fishing, and Great Lakes shipping since the mid-1800s. Exhibits trace the history of the SS Badger, the last coal-fired steamship on the Great Lakes, and the legendary Pere Marquette Fleet that once connected Ludington to Wisconsin and beyond, along with displays on fishing, lighthouses, and shipwrecks of the eastern Lake Michigan shoreline. The museum is housed near the historic Ludington waterfront and the active ferry slip where the Badger continues its Lake Michigan crossings.
