Ludington State Park at 8800 W M-116 north of Ludington is Michigan's most visited state park and one of the gems of the entire Midwest, encompassing 5,300 acres between the crystal-clear waters of Hamlin Lake and Lake Michigan, featuring 23 miles of hiking and biking trails through towering sand dunes, old-growth forest, and freshwater wetlands. The park offers three campgrounds with over 300 sites, multiple swimming beaches on both Hamlin Lake and Lake Michigan, canoe and kayak rentals, a boat launch, and the iconic 1.5-mile trail to the remotely situated Big Sable Point Lighthouse. The breathtaking, undeveloped Lake Michigan shoreline within the park, over five miles of pristine beach, is one of the finest wild shorelines in the Great Lakes.
