Kitch-iti-kipi, 'The Big Spring', at 149 County Road 455 in Manistique is Michigan's largest natural spring, located within Palms Book State Park in the eastern Upper Peninsula, where over 10,000 gallons of crystal-clear 45°F water bubble up from the limestone bedrock every minute into a perfectly transparent 40-foot-deep, 300-foot-wide pool. Visitors cross the spring on a self-propelled observation raft that allows them to watch massive rainbow trout glide over the ghostly white sandy bottom amid the constant upwelling of ancient groundwater. Kitch-iti-kipi is one of the most mesmerizing and magical natural attractions in Michigan, and 'must-see' on any Upper Peninsula itinerary.
