About This Location

Dee Stadium on the Michigan Technological University campus in Houghton is a community ice arena adjacent to the MacInnes Student Ice Arena that hosts public skating, community ice hockey, and youth hockey programs for the Houghton-Hancock area. The History of Hockey Museum within the facility celebrates the Keweenaw Peninsula's deep roots in hockey history — the region is considered by many historians to be one of the earliest cradles of organized hockey in the United States, with copper mining communities fielding teams as far back as the 1890s. Exhibits trace the evolution of the sport in the UP and the many players from Copper Country who went on to professional careers.
