The A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum at 1404 E Sharon Ave on the Michigan Technological University campus in Houghton is the official mineralogical museum of the State of Michigan and one of the premier mineral collections in the western hemisphere, housing over 30,000 specimens from 160 countries with particular strength in native copper, silver, and agates from the Keweenaw Peninsula. Founded in 1902, the museum honors A.E. Seaman, a pioneering Michigan mineralogist, and attracts collectors, geologists, and curious visitors from around the world to its comprehensive displays of crystals, gems, and mineral rarities. The museum is a remarkable window into the geological wealth of the Upper Peninsula's mining heritage.
