Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island state park in the Detroit River, accessible from the mainland via the MacArthur Bridge, offering a remarkable array of natural and cultural attractions within a short drive of downtown Detroit. The park features the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, a conservatory, an aquarium (the oldest public aquarium in the United States), the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, sandy beaches along the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, a yacht club, and miles of pathways for cycling and walking. Operated by the Michigan DNR since 2014, Belle Isle is one of the largest city island parks in the United States and an iconic Detroit landmark.
