About This Location
The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) is a Michigan DNR facility at 1801 Atwater St along the Detroit Riverwalk, designed to connect urban residents — especially young people — with Michigan's outdoors through immersive, hands-on experiences including a 26-foot climbing wall, fly-casting pool, archery range, paddling simulator, and interactive exhibits about Michigan's natural resources. Located in a restored historic building in the RiverTown district, the OAC also hosts organized outdoor trips and serves as a gateway for Detroiters to explore Michigan's state parks, forests, and recreation areas. Admission is affordable and the center frequently offers free programming for community members.
