MotorCity Casino Hotel opened in 1999 in a historic former Wagner Baking Company building in Detroit, growing into an $825 million complex with a 100,000-square-foot casino, a 400-room luxury hotel, and the 2,400-seat Sound Board theater. The casino floor's signature ceiling, dubbed "Future Retro," was designed with extruded aluminum-like beams and thousands of color-changing LEDs resembling a custom car radiator, a nod to Detroit's automotive heritage.
