Amber Elk Ranch at 3351 N State Rd near Ludington is a working elk ranch where visitors board an open wagon for 50-minute guided tours through 130 acres of pastureland to observe a herd of several hundred elk up close — including massive trophy bulls, cows, spikers, and calves — in a setting that offers one of Michigan's most unique wildlife encounters. Founded by Bob Northrup from a small herd of eight elk, the ranch now raises elk for breeding, velvet antler products, quality meats, and trophy hunting, and also features a farm animal area with mini donkeys, guinea fowl, and white-tailed deer, plus the Antler Shed gift shop. Saturday BBQ events featuring elk burgers and spare ribs are a popular seasonal draw.
