Why We Share the Spotlight: Collaboration Is How Everyone Grows

The Able Eyes Team

Nobody does this alone.

There's an old way of doing business. Guard your contacts. Keep your best ideas quiet. Never send anyone to the company down the road.

We get it. But that's not how we've grown. And it's not how access works, either.

A family planning a day out doesn't need just one thing. They need to see the building. They need a website that works with their screen reader. They need to know where the quiet space is. Sometimes they need a way to keep the whole care team on the same page. No single company covers all of that. Together, we can.

That's why we built a Resources page.

We just launched Resources We Trust. It's a list of organizations we know, trust, and send people to. Not competitors to hide from. Partners to point toward.

Here's who you'll find there right now:

  • AbleVu. Our sister platform, led by co-founder Meegan Winters. It helps travelers, families, and caregivers find out if a restaurant, park, store, hotel, or attraction will work for them before they leave home. It covers eight areas of need, from mobility and vision to sensory, dietary, and medical.
  • Egmer Marketing. Melissa and Tyler O'Neal build websites that work for everyone who visits them. Every site gets tested by real people with a keyboard and a screen reader, not just an automated scan.
  • Eleplan. One secure place for family caregivers to keep documents, medications, appointments, and the whole care team. Its AI assistant, Ellie, helps busy caregivers catch what they might miss.

Different work. Same goal. Helping more people take part with confidence.

And this is just the start. We'll keep adding great organizations with reach across the USA, so people everywhere can find the help they need, wherever they're going.

Sharing is how you get found.

Here's something we've learned from building more than 400 tours. The more places your story lives, the easier you are to find.

Every Able Eyes tour lives in a lot of places at once:

  • ableeyes.org
  • Google Maps and your Google Business Profile
  • Your own website
  • AbleVu.com
  • Membership organization sites, like your chamber or visitor bureau

That's on purpose. Search engines trust businesses that show up consistently across the web. AI tools like ChatGPT pull answers from listings everywhere, not just your homepage. One tour in five places gets five chances to be found.

And every partner who shares it boosts everyone else. The business gets seen. The chamber gets a richer member listing. AbleVu gets more complete. The visitor gets the answer they were looking for.

Keep it to yourself and it lives in one place. Share it and it works everywhere.

Referrals make you more valuable, not less.

When you send someone to a trusted partner, you don't lose them. You become the one they trust.

A caregiver who finds Eleplan through us remembers who pointed the way. A business that gets an accessible website from Egmer and a tour from us now has a better story to tell. Everyone in the chain looks good. And people come back to the ones who helped them.

What this looks like for you.

Run a business, chamber, visitor bureau, or nonprofit? Here's the simple version:

  • Share your partners. Build a resources page of your own. Link to the people you trust.
  • Put your tour everywhere. Your website, Google, social posts, emails, and member directories.
  • Make introductions. One email connecting two people can open doors for both of them.
  • Ask to be listed. Membership groups and destination sites want good content. Give it to them.

Why we do this.

Able Eyes started because people deserve to know what a place is like before they walk in. We can't solve all of that alone. Nobody can. But when good organizations work together, the people we serve win. And so do we.

Know an organization that belongs on our Resources page? Tell us at info@ableeyes.org. And if you want to see what a tour could do for your space, grab a time here, or check out our tours.

Ask Iris

See it first. Go with confidence.

Hi, I'm Iris! Tell me what you're looking for: a place to preview (like "Park Library" or "a dentist office"), a specific city (like "Lansing, MI" or "Petoskey, MI"), or a how-to video (like "tying shoes" or "self-checkout"), and I'll find it for you.

Or browse all tours or the video library.
